The ACOS Executive Committee installed Christopher A. Reeder, D.O., FACOS, FACS as the new ACOS President. Dr Reeder is a board-certified plastic surgeon who has been in private practice for over 30 years and was CEO of a 15-office dermatology practice in Southwest Ohio.

Dr. Reeder has also been very active over the years training medical students, as well as ENT and General Surgery residents at Grandview Hospital. He has active appointments as an Assistant Clinical Professor with the Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine, and the Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Reeder served on the Board of Directors of the American Osteopathic Board of Surgery for nearly 10 years. He was an Ohio Senate Appointee to the Board of Directors of Bright New Leaders for Ohio Schools, a public/private partnership for a new approach to leadership development in underserved schools in Ohio. Dr. Reeder also served on the Advisory Board of Castle Biosciences, a company that uses genomic information to enable more accurate treatment of dermatological cancers. He has also lectured internationally while serving on the Smith-Nephew Global speakers bureau.

Kristen J. Conrad-Schnetz, D.O., FACOS, FACS has been elected President-Elect. Dr. Conrad-Schnetz is an Assistant Professor of Surgery with Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine through CWRU Staff, Director, General Surgery Residency, Cleveland Clinic South Pointe Hospital, and Director, Department of Surgery, Cleveland Clinic South Pointe Hospital. She recently served on the ACOS Board of Governors in the position of Secretary-Treasurer. Dr. Conrad-Schnetz is a very active member of the College, volunteering on multiple committees, working tirelessly on behalf of the College and consistently engaging with students and residents to help them progress in their surgical careers. She has also been instrumental in creating and co-leading the ACOS Women Surgeons Forum, held annually in conjunction with the ACOS Annual Clinical Assembly.

Outgoing President Eugene W. Laveroni, Jr., D.O., FACOS, DFACOS will remain on the ACOS Board of Governors in the position of Past-President. Dr. Laveroni is a vascular surgeon who joined the ACOS as a resident in 1987 and was inducted in 1992. He became a Fellow of the College in 1997. Serving the Detroit metropolitan area, Dr. Laveroni was named multiple times as one of Detroit’s Top Docs by his peers, most recently in 2019. Prior to his role as ACOS President, Dr. Laveroni worked on multiple committees and served as an examiner as well as a board member on the American Osteopathic Board of Surgery (AOBS) for many years. He served as Program Co-Chair for the Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery discipline at the 2013 Annual Clinical Assembly of Osteopathic Surgeons. In 2016 Dr. Laveroni was elected to the ACOS Board of Governors. The following year, the College awarded Dr. Laveroni with the prestigious ACOS Orel F. Martin Medal, the highest honor awarded by the College.

Janie L. Myers, DO, FACOS, DFACOS, FACS was elected Secretary-Treasurer. Dr. Myers is a general surgeon who has worked with multiple healthcare organizations over the past 20 years, including HCA Healthcare Physician Services Group, CAVA Robotics, Bon Secours Health System and others. She has been a Governor of the College and has served as the Chair of the General Surgery section. Last year, Dr. Myers was elected Vigo County coroner, becoming the first African American woman elected to a countywide office in Terre Haute, Indiana.
