Advocacy in Action - Resources for the Quality Payment Program

Carter L. Alleman, J.D.

By now most if not all of you have received a letter from CMS describing your level of participation in the Quality Payment Program. If you have not received your notice yet, you can search with your NPI to see if you need to participate in the Program to avoid the automatic 4% payment cut in FY 2019 for Medicare reimbursements, available here.

The CMS website for the Quality Payment Program offers a wide range of resources for your use. After being heavily criticized for the healthcare.gov website, CMS worked with shareholders on how to best create a website that is useable and informational in order to attempt a smooth launch of the Program. Two main features I want to point out to you are the measure set creators and the library.

The measure set creator allows you to create measure sets that are focused on your practice. Each of the 3 categories that are being scored this year are included: Quality, Advancing Care Information, and Improvement Activities. Each category contains its relevant measure sets. To operate the site, you enter the relevant information into the search function at the top of the page and it will populate a chart for you to download. Remember these are just informational downloads. The measures are available here.

The library contains a wealth of information. Past webinars on the MIPS and APM program are available for viewing. The library also contains fact sheets about the Program. If you are eligible or want to understand more about the Program the library serves as a valuable resource. It is available here.

The ACOS will be putting out a webinar over the summer regarding the Quality Payment Program. And again, if you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact the ACOS. We are here to help you navigate this complex Program so you can have a successful start.
