Presidential Citations Presented at the 2016 Ceremonial Conclave

Dawn R. Tartaglione, D.O., FACOS recognized Teck-Mun Soo, M.D., and Daniel R. Pieper, M.D. (posthumously), with Presidential Citations during the Ceremonial Conclave at the 2016 Annual Clinical Assembly in Phoenix. She presented the citations and expressed the College’s appreciation for the recipients’ contributions to the osteopathic profession.

Discussing the contributions of the recipients, Dr. Tartaglione stated: “Dr. Soo, you personally have dedicated years to serving your community and the osteopathic profession by training neurosurgery residents and generously sharing your skills with young attendings. You have unselfishly shared cases and time with others, helped many residents transitioning to attending life, and for that I recognize you today.

Dr. Daniel Pieper was an esteemed neurosurgeon practicing in suburban Detroit for many years until we lost him last year. He was instrumental along with several other surgeons in forming the neurosurgery residency at Providence Hospital in Southfield, Michigan and trained osteopathic residents there for many years. Dr. Pieper dedicated his life to treating neurosurgery patients and training residents.” Donna Piper, accepted the Presidential Citation on behalf of her late husband, Daniel R. Piper, M.D.
