Registration Due! General Surgery In-Service Exam

Registration for the 2019 General Surgery In-Service Exam is due. Registration is conducted through the NBOME on-line portal. If you are a coordinator and need help accessing the system, please contact [email protected]. The exam will be administered on Saturday, January 12, 2019, 8:00 am to 12:00 pm to all residents in ACOS/AOA accredited general surgery training programs.

Resident Annual Reports | Off-cycle and Deferred Residents

The next meeting of the Resident Evaluation and Standards Committee (RESC) will be February 22, 2018 in Alexandria, Virginia. The committee meets twice a year to review surgical residency programs and evaluate resident progress. Annual Report submissions are due for residents who are off-cycle or with incomplete annual reports. Materials for review by the RESC and all requested documentation and fees should be received at ACOS no later than Monday, January 21, 2018. Residents can check their training status by logging into their www.facos.org account and selecting Training Status. Questions? Contact [email protected].

Single Accreditation Update

Congratulations to these General Surgery programs who recently achieved ACGME Initial Accreditation during the October 2018 Review Committee meeting: Beaumont Hospital-Trenton, Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, EastEnd Health Alliance, Franciscan Health Olympia Fields, McLaren General Surgery Consortium, Pinnacle Health Community Hospital, St. Mary’s Hospital of Blue Springs and UPMC Horizon-Shenango Valley.

ACGME Application Deadline

The deadline for one- and two-year surgery programs to apply for ACGME accreditation is December 31, 2018! Programs that do not submit the ACGME Application prior to the deadline will not be able to participate in the 2019 Match and will unable to accept new residents (including transfers).
