The American College of Osteopathic Surgeons Awarded Provisional Accreditation by
the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education

(ALEXANDRIA, VIRGINIA, August 29, 2021) – The American College of Osteopathic Surgeons has been reviewed by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME®) and was recently awarded provisional accreditation status as a provider of continuing medical education (CME) for physicians.

The College has done so by completing a rigorous process that demonstrates the quality of material and delivery of up-to-date medical education content offered through in-person, virtual and on-demand lectures and courses. The American College of Osteopathic Surgeons successfully met the requirements needed to achieve provisional accreditation status.

Accreditation in the ACCME System seeks to assure the medical community and the public that the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons delivers education that is relevant to clinicians’ needs, evidence-based, evaluated for its effectiveness, and independent of commercial influence.

Acting Chief Executive Officer and Chief Operating Officer Sonjya Johnson stated “The American College of Osteopathic Surgeons has always striven to offer and deliver excellent continuing medical education to our members. We have worked diligently to achieve ACCME accreditation and are thrilled to offer this benefit to our members and extend our outstanding medical education content to all surgeons who practice across the surgical disciplines we serve.
