NEWS FROM THE AMERICAN COLLEGE OF OSTEOPATHIC SURGEONS | FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
July 29, 2015

CHICAGO (July 18, 2015): The American College of Osteopathic Surgeons was honored by the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) with the Strategic Team Award and Recognition (STAR) for our contributions to osteopathic medicine and the recent creation of our video series promoting the osteopathic surgical profession.

ACOS President Valerie L. Sheridan, D.O., FACOS, FACS accepted the award on behalf of the College during the recent AOA House of Delegates meeting. Addressing the audience, she declared, “We are proud of our video series. It strives to show what makes osteopathic surgery unique across different practice settings, populations, and specialties. The performance of surgery itself does not differ much from our allopathic counterparts; however, we bring our osteopathic skills to the patient experience. Our personal patient interactions maintain mind, body, and spirit. Our communication and our empathy is what we hope to display most in this endeavor.”

ACOS extends our gratitude to the AOA for its recognition and to those who made this video series possible, including our members that documented their experiences with the producers and our generous trust fund contributors for their support and dedication to advancing the profession.
