General Surgery In-Depth Review Seminar
2019 ACOS In-depth Review Seminar
April 10 – 13, 2019
Des Moines, Iowa
The ACOS recently hosted the 2019 General Surgery In-Depth Review Seminar (IDR) in Des Moines, Iowa.
The 2019 IDR Program Chairs, Marc A. Campbell, D.O., FACOS, and Benjamin A. Raymond, D.O., with the support of the In-Depth Review Committee, delivered a top-notch, comprehensive educational program. The 2019 IDR was a board review course designed to provide the general surgeon with an in-depth review. In addition to earning valuable CME credit, participants found it a helpful experience in preparing for certification or re-certification examinations.
Back by popular demand, the Seminar opened with a special “mock” oral board session on the afternoon of Wednesday, April 10. Participants learned tips and tricks on the oral boards before putting their skills to the test by being tested by our “mock” proctors. The 2019 session saw more than double the attendance as the previous year. Participants overwhelmingly commented that the exercise was very helpful.
On Thursday, April 11, the IDR curriculum shifted to focus on a deep-dive into the topics covered in the General Surgery AOA Initial Certification and Re-certification Examinations. Participants experience three full days of intensive learning from our expert panel of speakers to better prepare them for the certification or re-certification examinations.
One meeting attendee described this year's IDR as the “Best D.O. meeting I have ever attended!”

The ACOS will petition the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) Council on Continuing Medical Education to approve the 2019 In-Depth Review program for a maximum of 26.00 Category 1-A CME credit hours. Instructions on how to access the evaluation site and how to complete the process can be found by clicking here.
Eligible participants must claim your CME credits NO LATER THAN Sunday, June 30, 2019. Attendees that do not submit their evaluation by the deadline WILL NOT receive credit for the 2019 In-Depth Review, there are no exceptions.
Registered attendees were provided with both pre and post-tests at the 2019 IDR. The pre/post-tests serve to gauge the learners’ knowledge gained during this board review course. Attendees who have not done so already are encouraged to take the daily post-tests to aid in preparation for their certification/recertification test.
More information and full instructions on how to claim your CME hours and complete your post-tests for the 2019 IDR can be found by clicking here. Please direct any questions to email@example.com.
